At 4:42 p.m. on Sunday, August 27, police were called to East 25th Street on a report of an armed man and spotted Elijah Odum, who matched their description, Captain Eric Amato said. When police approached Odum, he fled on foot, Amato said.
Odum was caught in the area of Gregg Lane, Amato said.. While investigating, officers found a discarded 9 mm handgun possessed by Odom on East 25th Street, Amato said.
Odum was hit with multiple charges related to possessing a weapon as well as obstructing a governmental function for running from police, Amato said.
